22 revolver i d help

i was looking at a s&w 22 cal revolver a friend is selling,neither one of us are exactly sure of the model.it is a 22 cal.4 line address,blue finish,adj.rear site,6 in. ribbed barrell,5 screws,pinned and recessed,target hammer,serrated trigger,serial # is k85494.no model number,it has target grips that are not correct they are stamped 1985,i think it is probably a pre-17 but i am not sure.i would appreciate any info.thank you.

Sounds like a narrow rib satin blue K-22 Masterpiece from around 1950 (ish),

Yes, that would be a K-22, also known as a Pre-17. Circa 1950. It became the M 17 about 1958. Value is completely dependent on condition, which would require pictures to evaluate. This is known to be one of the finest 22 revolvers ever produced, and some especially fine ones were made in that era. Can be very accurate and a lot of fun. Shoot, clean, repeat. Chambers may be a little sticky and a brass brush should be in your bag to clean out the cylinder charge holes frequently.
 
thanks for the info.i wish i could post pics but i do not have the revolver in my posession and my friend lives about 4 hours away.it is probably about 90% i would guess,blueing nice but has a few marks on the cylinder.no box,tools or paperwork.and not correct grips.he says he has 600.00 into it.
