Enjoy it. Yours looks nice, I looked for a 2206 back in the day because of the good reviews here, but never found one in good condition.

These are not all too easy to find and in that condition, even more difficult. I have one, but not in nearly that fantastic shape.

The brushed finish on these wear more easily than I wish they did. I like mine a lot but newer shooters are almost always put off by the weight. These are rather heavy for a rimfire pistol.

At $400, you got a fantastic deal!

I was very surprised when I first saw the gun in the case. I had a 422 4 inch about 20 years ago. That was a very good gun. The 422 and 622 pistols are fairly uncommon now. I honestly can't remember the last time I saw one in person. This is actually the first time I have the 2206 up close. I wasn't letting this one slip by for that price. It will be going to the range Monday. I'm gonna break into my CCI stash. The 2206 certainly has a lot of surprises. Pinned front and the micoclick adjustable rear sights. Goes very well with my growing gaggle of S&W 3rd gen pistols! Same era of production. I need a few more mags and I really want the wood grips. Luckily the mags are still in production, same as the 41.

I owned one exactly like this one in the past. Kind of unusual because it has adjustable revolver type rear sight. I ordered a set of walnut grips with thumb rest from Smith & Wesson for mine and it made a very nice looking pistol. I liked that it was all stainless steel and the weight never bothered me, it could have actually been a little heavier for my liking, particularly forward weight.

I will give you one warning. The owner's manual states not to dry-fire this pistol as it can damage the pistol, and they mean it. I'm a slow learner. I dry-fired mine 2-3 times and immediately broke the firing pin. I ordered 3 extra firing pins and proceeded to dry-fire it 3-4 times, broken firing pin again. Lesson learned. For a brief time someone sold an aftermarket firing pin for these pistols guaranteed not to break but by that time my 2206 had been traded off to fund another purchase.

I think you bought your unique pistol at a very good price!

It is also the only model that has a trigger travel adjustment screw.

I like the weight of the 2206, one of my favorites in the series, especially the TGT.

The 2206 is an excellent little.22 pistol and you got yours for a great price. I picked up mine a few years ago at around $275 at a local gun show and it quickly became my go to .22 pistol when going to the range. It balances well and so far has digested everything SV .22 ammo that I’ve shot through it.

Thank you RSBH44. I can't wait to get to the range with mine. I had a 422 and for reasons far beyond me now, I got rid of it. That 422 shot fine but I already had several J and K frame .22 revolvers at the time. I have regretted getting rid of it for years. Just hope this 2206 is half as good as it looks. Thanks for a.peek at yours.

I bought S&W 2206 last year with two mag, silencer, adapter, a few boxes of old .22 LR & .38 Special ammo, S&W tools, two holsters and S&W 642 parts. (642 frame and barrel went to the melting pot)

I have also Ruger MK1 and High Standard Victory Military .22 LR semi-auto pistols, 2206 is my favorite in range. It eat all sorts ammo and hit to bull eye


All in total 70 € (about 76 $)

The 2206 was unused for many years in a drawing box with the previous owner and he wanted the guns to find a good new home. 642 is a problem in Finland, it is 1" too short with a barrel to get permission from the police without a special reason, profession or gun collecting.
I could have bought it with a collector's permit, but it would be a problem for my inheritance someday.

Sorry to hear about your 642. Whenever I read about barrel length restrictions I think about the 1911 Tisas I carry often and have no problem concealing.
Back on topic, I saw a 2206 at the gun show this weekend. It is a very nice-looking pistol with good balance. but my previous bad experience with a 22A makes me hesitate to purchase another S&W auto. Look forward to seeing some photos of good targets from yours.

Like others here, I had one just like yours but it was the fixed sight version. Very accurate and very reliable. Traded it off back in my days of no money and have always regretted it.

Hi there Heinz. Let me just say that I have owned two different 422’s, a 2214 and a 2206. All have been stellar runners. The one 22A that I had was shoddy in multiple ways. I was very disappointed that after such a fine line of budget pistols, the 22A is the direction that S&W went.
