.223/5.56 Reloading Cost

I wont shoot the Steel case in my AR's anymore either... after 1 stuck case, I was done with them

I am at .16$ to .22$ per rd depending on what Bullet is loaded... and Like Most.... i started reloading to save a $ which really meant shoot MORE for LESS:D

I have about 1000 or so Factory Rounds... Gott em cheap, various brands, and not 1 is as accurate as my loads.... and I pretty much just shoot for fun... Punching paper at 100-300yds and Plates at 50-75yds

I go in spurts... lately I have been loading again... now Time ta shoot again...

At some point Im sure ill pay for all my equipement I have Purchased... but thats not importat either.... Its a fun Hobby and keeps me outa trouble;)

I have reloaded since the mid-80's with my single stage press and I have never looked at savings from reloading as the reason. Sure it's nice if you save some cash along the way but that's not why I reload. I reload because I actually find it relaxing and the ammo I reload gives me a certain amount of pride when I shoot it whether it's target shooting or hunting. I can also come up with a round for a specific gun that is accurate and that I will use that load in it from then own.

I have bought 223 ammo once in a while but 90% of my 223 ammo are reloads and the ammo I bought was good quality and had brass cases. Lastly, Because I reload and I keep a well stock reloading bench I don't have to worry if ammo is hard to find. The 22LR and 17 HMR are non reloadable rounds so I basically keep a set inventory level of them on hand and the rest I reload as needed when I shoot up what I have reloaded.
