223 ammo is drying up

.223

Plenty of brass .223 at a local shop I stopped by yesterday. Prices had gone up a wee bit. But not enough to alarm me so I left it all on the shelf for those who really need it.

I have a few rounds left.

I think its the election comming up and the eld of the world on 12-21-2012. I think all the ammo will be drying up soon all over the place.

We shoot all summer and reload all winter between shooting of course. The progressive presses help out too.

For the best prices on online ammo go to; www.gun-deals.com and click on ammo-deals then on your caliber.

I've noticed the price of steel case going up too. I'm chalking it up to an increase in the price of metals & shipping costs.

I'm sure there's many influences. I think steel case has become much more popular than it was in years past and demand has probably influenced price as well.

When I would go to the range with Wolf lacquer (sealant drips and all) some folks at the range would be aghast. They would tell me all sorts of horror stories... I would nod in acknowledgement and then continue to run through mags of flawless rounds. Folks seem much more accepting of polymer and there's probably a lot more demand for it.

I think I've still got a few hundred rounds of lacquer around here somewhere... oh here it is...

ChatanoogaPhil. Sir it is really nice to see your input, and due to the fact that I only reload 45 colt straight cases, having your experience to give us input, I myself think is a great thing. This next month I wil be buying 45acp and 9mm lee reloader dies...but as you stated I save a ton of money reloading my 223 ammo!!! :D

I'm just another guy on the Internet, however, there are some very knowledgable folks in the Reloading section here on the Forum.

Ammoman.com

Ammoman.com has 1000 rounds of 55 grain Wolf 223 for $179 delivered. That's 17.9 cents a round delivered to your front door.

Not sure that's correct. Checking with

AMMOMAN.COM

that's $179 for 500 rounds ($.358/round), $279 for 1000 rounds delivered ($.279/round). It's good ammo and available... unless, of course, you live in one of those Nanny States that forbid running with sissors.

I've heard stereotypical tin-foil-hat conspiracy that Obama/Clinton are to blame due to some sort of politics, trade issues, etc...etc...etc... The Gubmint is making it hard to import foreign ammo & such.

I haven't been able to substantiate any of this hearsay to deem it credible. I've noticed the price of steel case going up too. I'm chalking it up to an increase in the price of metals & shipping costs.

Not that I have any issues with steel case but if I'm going to buy factory ammo, it's going to be brass reloadable cases.

...or enjoy the quasi mad-scientist aspect of reloading bottle necked rifle cartridges. :D

It's more than what you want and when you want. It's also how you want it. From my experience loading straight wall pistol cases, I'm able to load rounds to suit my individual firearm and to the use.

uhhhh what you want doesn't cover it??
