.223 dies info help

Number of years ago bought a small batch of military once fired 308. Took 3 resizings to allow them to chamber and they got a soon to separate ring on the next resizing. Lot of work for one firing. There must be lots that are just fine, but never bought anymore of the 308. Had much better luck with the military 223. .

Heck a friend and I were given over 800 308 Mil brass. Once fired. Out of all of them I'll bet we got maybe a 100 to size enough to load 'em. He had one of Indian SMLE made into 308/7.62x51 that had pretty sloppy chamber that they fit in. All we found out later were fired in a GE gatling gun. It was....frustrating... till we got the scoop.. Never had any trouble with 223/5.56 brass...no matter what it was fired in. We really wanted that 308 brass too. BTW I got a chance to shoot a BAR a few years ago. all military match ammo. All sized and reloaded them all...no problem. That was a lot of fun:D

If they have to bust out a minigun, it dang well better chamber and fire. My buddy loved them and the Mark 19 full auto 40mm grenade launchers. And he didn't have to carry the ammo!

You've got enough to digest here, I won't add to the confusion other than to say "Brass Prep Sucks" and echo the advice to ream those pockets rather then swage.

I'd look seriously at buying ready to load brass rather then go through thousands of cases again.
