I once had a very similar Savage rifle but in .222 Remington. This was in the late 1960s. When I bought it. it was scoped so I didn't need to add one. I did some work to smooth and lighten the trigger pull, which is not difficult, and it shot very good groups. I didn't use it much for several years afterward other than for a little fun shooting so I traded it off for something else in the early 70s. I had a friend with a similar Savage in .30-30 that was his deer gun. I didn't know it was also chambered in .225, but obviously it was.
