I have a 22s-1 and a 22a-1 with extra 7" barrels that I bought from S&W.
The increased sight radius seems to help with the groups a little. I might add that it is very easy to change the barrels.

Not a 22A but I have several High Standards with 7" barrels and like the extra sight radius. As long as you like the extra muzzle weight and don't plan to use a optic I'd say that it would be the way to go.

I have the 22A with the 5.5 barrel. Bought it used and extremely dirty. Still shot well but failed to feed 5 of 200 rounds. Cleaned it well and it only failed once in the next 200 rounds. If you use standard cleaning it needs to be cleaned every 250-300 rounds. I found that using Frog lube increased that time to over 500 rounds. We put 500 rounds through the gun on the last outing without a single failure. Not planing on cleaning it again until it fails to feed. Just want to see how long it will go...
Swapping the barrel is a piece of cake. Push one button and the entire top come off in your hand. I'm looking for a 7in barrel for mine right now. I'm very impressed with mine and would highly recommend it.

Here is a comparison of the 5½" barrel and the 7" barrel. Targets were shot at 10 yards 10 shots per target with Remington 1622 bulk hollow points. I had two FTF out of 100 rounds. The targets are labeled 5½" & 7".
