I have Six 25 Rd 15-22 mags and I can only get 23 rds in each mag. Anyone else have the same problem?

I had that same problem with a few of mine when they were new. Stored them loaded for a few months between shooting sessions and now they all hold 25.

Unless the rounds stagger themselves in the magazine you'll not get 25 rounds in a 25 round magazine.

Staggered.........................................................Not Staggered.

The photo shows how much more room the cartridges use if not staggered in the magazine.

do some research and make sure you are loading the mags properly is what hes gettin at--pictures should have helped lol

Yes I would say they are not being loaded properly with proper staggering. I would say dont use that load assist button thing but just load them normal, I personally pulled that load assist thing off the moment I opened the package for the mag. Look up some of the videos from Brett, he has a great one for loading these mags.

Also on a side note, leaving your mag loaded for a period of time will not allow for more rounds to be loaded. Mag springs dont wear out from sitting in a static position, they fatigue from use.

What i did to loosen up the springs is, while im just sittin around i load all mags then wait a about an hour or two then unload and repeat and repeat some more. Its what i do to all my mags just to loosen them up a bit.

I do this, but I don't wait the hour. I unload immediately. At the range. By firing it a lot, haha.

All mags had the ammo staggered properly. It just strikes me strange that all six mags would only take 23 rounds. I can see if one or two mags took less than 25. Anyhow they all fed perfectly except for the mag that had Federal 550 rounds in it, 3 failure to feeds. The others were loaded with CCI mini mags and Blazers. Blazers out grouped the Mini mags at 25 yards. I would post pictures but I am awaiting a new camera battery to arrive from Amazon. When the battery comes I will see if I can figure out how to post pics. Funny thing is that the Federals grouped in the black of a 50ft slowfire pistol target and no two bullet holes touch.

Here is my experience. Got my 15-22 PC model as a back to my regular speed steel carbine. Of course it came with the one 10 round mag (no paperwork in my state as an assault rifle for this model)and I shot the first 400 rounds of breakin with the one mag 10 at a time (whew). Got three 25s from RSC and used them for some practice once I got to New Mexico for the Ruger Rimfire World Championships. All took 25 rounds with no issues and I did not bother to leave 25 in to relax the springs a little. I did figure out that just pulling the button and dropping in 2-3rounds at a time could get some of them pointed down and was a no-no. I found that pulling the button and sliding one in at a time into the top worked perfectly every time and could be done fast with practice. When I found that my primary gun was missfeeding regularly I switched all my optics to the S&W and got 2 more mags from a local gun dealer ($22.28 each). Those I loaded with 25 rounds each and left them that way overnight till the morning of the shoot. All 5 25s worked flawlessly with no feeding or loading issues through the 6 rifle stages. So as far as I'm concerned it does not seem to matter whether you load full to relax the springs or just shoot the mags when full. Careful loading seems to be the most important thing. Now all I need to do is get some trigger work done and it should be perfect for Steel Challenge also. As an aside I put a Nordic compensator (Cavalry model)on that I already owned and that seemed to work fine and was close to the correct diameter for fluted bull barrel of the PC model.
Also I tend to use CCI Mini-Mags exclusively because that is what my rimfire racegun pistol uses.

I loaded the mags without using the load assist button and got all 25 rounds in all mags with no problems.
Thanks for the assistance everyone.

I load WITH the magazine assist button but make sure the rounds seat properly with no rim overlap and that they stagger.

Roughly 200 rounds of Winchester Super-X (in 333 bulk pack) yesterday. Not a stoppage for any reason.
