Guys, I just paid over 40 bucks for a box of 20 Speer Gold Dot short barrel ammunition from a local shop in Orlando. Did I get ripped off? I thought I remembered seeing them online in the mid 20's range.

No worries folks, I was having trouble finding the short barrel gold dots anyhow. They won't be getting my business again though. I just bought my M&P 45c (no safety) a week ago for 540.00 at a different gun shop. This one had the exact same gun for 679.00!!

You do realize you should put at least 200 rounds of your chosen carry ammo through your gun before you commit to carrying that load, right?

IMO that is so expansive these days, I'm going to stick with my revolver...

I plan on buying several different types and seeing how they shoot through my gun before deciding on a single one. I will have the Gold Dots in my mags until I am able to do that though, as they are better than the FMJ's that I have shot a few hundred of. Thank you though. : )

In the unfortunate event that you have to use them and they work as advertised, they will be worth it. Otherwise, yes, you got ripped.

Just remember to use ALL of the rounds in the event you have to use them "for real". :D;)

Don't feel bad, if you ever have to use them they are worth every penny. However, if that is the going rate you might consider mail order. :)

I've got a 50 round box with 40 left that I'll sell you for $70 ;)

Was that higher price from ... Shoot Straight?

Actually the lower one was! The shop I intended to buy it from was closed, so I figured I'd stop by SS just to get my gun fix. Well, there sat the gun I wanted... in stock... for 540.00. Sold. : ) Anyhow, the gun shop that raped me on that ammo was the one that had it priced so high. No safety, no laser grip, no night sight upgrade. Just the basic .45c for that price.

You had better make sure that they feed reliably before you start trustin' your life to them......

Absolutely critical! Gold Dots have a very large mouth that can cause problems. Federals HST's is another one. My 1911 has never hiccuped with the HST's or anything else but will not make it through a whole magazine of Gold Dots without a FTFeed or two...be careful!
