I just sold a mint 4" M-24-3 with target grips for $700 no box or papers.
I'm already regretting that sale!

That's absolutely nuts! Doesn't even have the correct grips.
If they're valued by the inch, my 3" 24-3 is worth $800! Gotta like that.

I would top out myself at $650-700. Did you ever consider a 624 4"? They are much cheaper! I picked one up off the auctions a few months back for $500 shipped.

Well, they made about a zillion truck loads of 29-2s with 4" barrels and the going rate seems to be $650-$850 predicated on condition and box etc.
They made fewer than 2600 or so of the 24-3s with 4 inch barrels. And 4800 or so with the 6 1/2 barrel. Surely the 24-3 with a 4" barrel is more scarce and valuable than a 4" 29-2?

Agreed, but how many 624 4"ers were made? Since the production run only lasted from 1985-1987 (per SC of S&Ws #2) one would think that they're weren't too many...obviously more than the 24-3 though. Does anyone have any production figures for the 624?

I saw that auction as well. Mind-blowing. I don't think I could ever let my "baby" go. This is my most "prized" S&W by far.
