24-3 4" Value ?

Have a 99% 24-3 4" on the way. Box is like new, tool pack unopened, only thing that keeps it from being LNIB according to the seller is a slight turn ring. This is one of my all time favorite configurations and I couldn't pass it up at $900. Had to pay $25.00 for shipping, and then another $35.00 for ffl transfer and background fees. I decided right away that it was worth it to me and jumped on it. I see the 6" variation of these mid 80's guns going for $1200 and even more but rarely cross paths with the 4" version. I know these aren't the oldest, most collectible Smith revolvers out there but they aren't making them like this anymore so what is the general consensus on value?

I think you did well. I've never seen one locally, here in WV, for sale, and you don't see many 4" or 3" on the web. The 3" are generally out of sight, but I've always preferred 4" guns, in fact, I bought a new 4" 29 Classic and reload 44 Spl. for it, exclusively. Couldn't stand for the Altamont grips, so I bought some originals from a forum member. So, you have what I really wanted! Enjoy it.

Done deal now. I don't worry too much if a gun is a shade high if its one I want. When they are hard to come by you have to move. Congrats on your new revolver....I have it's cousin and enjoy the heck out of it.

I sold a 4" several years ago with box etc. and it brought mor than you paid.

The 4" guns are the hardest to find by far. The Lew Horton snubbies were made in large numbers. The factory then made 24-3s in 6 1/2 and 4" barrels. I don't know the ratio of the numbers of each but 6 1/2s are pretty easy and 4s dang near impossible to find.

Now you need a 4" 624 to pair with yours.
