I need to stay out of pawn shops for a while. Three weeks ago I found a nickel 19-5. Last week I found the 27-2 that I'm planning to get next Friday. Yesterday I had to go out of town for a meeting. I stopped at several pawn shops on the way home. Saw nothing but junk. Had some extra time so I stopped at one that I had quit going to. Last one I bought there was probably 10 years ago. The ones I had seen there that were interesting had ridiculous prices. I didn't see anything interesting and was leaving when I spotted this one in a separate cabinet away from the others. It's in excellent condition. Only marks I saw on it were the turn line and a few nicks on one edge of the trigger guard. SN 712xxx should put it in 1980. It's marked $1100 and I have no idea how negotiable they are. I was tempted to make an offer. If I wasn't already committed to the 27 next week it may have come home with me.

Your M-19 and M-27 need a big brother... If you can't buy it right now... There is a wonderful invention called... Layaway... !

I can only tell you that I had one back when I was shooting bullseye and steel plate matches. I won many competitions with it and little by little guys in my gun club were buying model 25 wheel guns in lieu of autos.

As an aside, I used to cast a 200 gr. Wadcutter bullet whose mold I had custom made from a company in Texas. One day I was testing loads on our range and shooting that gun clamped into a Ransom Rest, and guys jaws dropped when I fired a 5 rounds into a single ragged hole at 25 yards. Needless to say guys with wheel guns begged me to sell them some of those wadcutter bullets for their 45 revolvers because they were one of a kind.

I use to check out the pawn shops all the time. Never found anything.

Waste of my time.

Some of you guys are always lucky it seems. You must carry a rabbit's foot.

You are in Illinois, where people who need money don't pawn their guns. You can figure out what they do with them!

I'd be going back to that pawnshop; if priced at $1100 you can probably get it for $900 or so out the door. Which will be the second one of these found "in the box" at pawnshops for $900 of which I'm aware in the last couple weeks. Having paid $1,000 a couple years ago for a comparable one from a Forum member, and seeing others since priced at $1200-$1400, I'm a little jealous of your find. Go back and negotiate the best deal you can, but bring it home.

Yesterday I was finally able to get back to the pawn shop that had this one. Unfortunately it was gone.

Damn, sorry to hear it was gone already. Happens to all of us especially when you've got something else in the pipeline.
