So... I bought a 625-6 5" recently. Very nice gun. I'm shooting bullseye with it, along with my 17-4 and 14-4. I'm kinda eyeing a 25-2 in .45ACP to compliment the other two, and shoot BE with. Question is: how different are the grips between the 625 (Hogue), and 25? Weight? For those that have both, which do you prefer? Update...I JUST BOUGHT a 25-2 made around 1978 off Gunbroker. Seller says he bought it new, put 50 rounds through it and it has been in the safe ever since. Hopefully this is a good year, probably should have asked here first...anything I should be aware of? Thanks! Kurt

I think some of the M25-2 had oversized throats. There was a thread recently on this. They didn't always like lead bullets, especially. If you shoot a lot of lead could be a problem. I'd experiment with powder coating. Use the powder coat to tailor the bullet to the gun. If you shoot lead, and you don't powder coat, you're missing out on the best thing since the self contained cartridge.

I have a 625-6. Model of 1989. I wouldn't sell it for twice it's cash value. It shoots well under an inch at 25 yards and I have shot some excellent targets with it. There is NO way I would consider replacing it with a Model 25' but that's just me...

Mod 25 vs 625

I bought a PC 625-8 last summer because I couldn't find a 25-2. But then a 25-2 showed up in the fall so now I have both. The 25-2, of 1973 manufacture, has oversize throats but is a thing of beauty. The 625 lock up is definitely tighter and the throats are not oversize. I seem to shoot them about the same, although the 625 might have a slight edge in accuracy. But I am not a BE shooter and only shoot targets for fun. The 25-2 is a square butt frame, while the 625 is round butt. But many styles of grips are available for either. Willyboy
