I haven't seen it yet but a friend has one he wants to sell. He has a lot of sw's and everyone is in top condition. Just wondering what i should offer him. What's the going price for one of these now?

A little more info would help. Blue or nickel? Box and goodies? S or N serial number? Grips? Since you have not seen it you may not know all this but value will be effected by it.

Yes. The early -2 models were in the S-prefix serial range.
My 27-2 is an N range and is from 1976.
You should expect to pay about $1k for one is excellent condition in the box with the little tool baggy and papers. A little more if it's really like new. I bought a similar condition 27-2 in 3.5" with box/tools/papers for $800 locally a few months ago.

Keep in mind there are many who are happy to unload an old wheelgun so they can buy a Glock or and AR.

I bought a 5" from a GS just last year and paid less than $400 out-the -door.

Like Bamamaker said, there are also many variables that would affect value. In all likelihood, just playin the odds, you will probably be around the $600 range of fair.

Haven't seen it yet but found out it's an S prefix.

I guess i'll get to see it this next weekend. I hope it's priced right as my 3.5in needs a friend.

S prefix, maybe the box, could it also have diamond magnas or diamond target grips on it? This just sounds better and better. Good luck to you and post some pics if you get it.

Look at my post just above yours. I am looking at one from 1976 in excellent condition without box etc and he wants $675 for it without grips and $875 with a nice set of stags on it. I would say that the gun is in 98% condition.

Stags can be had from Patrick Grashorn for $130. I'd buy without the stags, and get the grips you want later.
