27-2 Blue +UPDATE JAN 20-Pics!

Well, the seller read the serial # incorrectly. We now have the correct info and thought to share.

Serial # N410xxx

Most probably 1977

Correct 3 T's and Presentation Box. All Original.

From the Widow of the Original owner here in SoCal. Shot very, very, very little and spent it's life in the box.

I'm now after it!

Again thanks for all of the help! Best, Dave

I concur with the revised date and features, 1977. My M27-2 is N447xxx and is Oct 1977. If the price is $1500 ballpark, I'd jump on that with both feet. I gave $1750 for my 6" version, no box, but got the paperwork and presentation case. I can't verify it was unfired, but it has by far the cleanest finish of any of my blue S&W's, none of the tiny rub marks that eventually show up from rubbing with a cloth that is less than perfectly clean. I don't think it had been handled much at all before I got it.

Yeah, a 27-2 in that nice of condition is well worth $1,500 imo -.even more.
I feel I got lucky with mine $1324
It's N 423098 shipped in November of 1977 (6")
Of course I paid a a little more for my '68 S 312703 3.5" - but, I'm just glad I found one I really liked
These 27-2's & earlier are so very nice.(that generation)I couldn't buy a new one with these out there.
Congratulations OP!

Like a lottery win

This was a great find. I paid $1500 - perfect especially here in CA; land of the "Rare, Off roster, you never see these for sale, blah blah blah."

The Mop and Brush were used 1X way back then to clean the gun. It wasn't shot dirty as received but needed a complete lube, clean and Renwax.

Can always buy a new Mop-Brush then they won't be the originals as used by "Steven."

A Model 27-2 with a serial number in the N10000 range would have most likely shipped in 1971. At that time, the Model 27 was standard with Magna stocks and a standard hammer and trigger. The presentation case was added to this model in September 1975 along with other upgrades. Your 27-2 was either ordered with a TH, TT, TS, and a red ramp, or they were added after shipping. The presentation case was definitely added in 1975 or later. Only a letter of authenticity will tell you when your 27-2 was actually shipped and how it was configured.
