john123456,

As a Grandfather that's my plan for most of my firearms. I gave my 10 year old Grandson a .38 S&W "Regulation Police" on Saturday. Talk about eyes lighting up:) Also covered the basics of firearms handling.

Also my plan for my guns, as I have a BUNCH of grandsons! Even though I'm "only" 63, I've already started to pass a few on. All my grandsons are shooters, so they love my "plan". What they don't know is, I love it even more.
A really good friend gave me a 5", M27-2, unfired and still in box, a few years ago. It's still unfired, but I don't know why, as my oldest grandson has told me (while smiling) that I won't be good and cold before it gets shot!

Congratulations as thats one great gift that you should treasure always and think of him when you handle and shoot it.

Skip----- if you KNOW that this grandson REALLY loves that gun......... you should do a range trip alone with him on Christmas eve day..... let him shoot it........ then give it to him.
Just my two cents. You can't put a price on something like that, and every time he pulled the trigger on that when you aren't around anymore..... you'll be thought of!
Best part is YOU'LL be able to see it and enjoy it too.
