27-2 in 44 SPECIAL

Here’s a pre-war outdoorsman that was bored out and re-marked to 44spl. All numbers on the metal parts still match.

IIRC, Dave Keith has done similar work for himself on 27s and even at least one RM.

This is one of Dave’s “project guns.” It’s a 1950’s vintage 5-screw pre-27 .357 Magnum converted to .44 Special. The rib is full length checkered and, as you can see, he marked the barrel appropriately. Stocks are by Keith Brown. Dave’s work is as good or better than any gunsmith out there anywhere. Absolutely first class in every way.

Thanks guys for all the comments. Certainly they open up a lot of possibilities. Thr barrel is properly marked for 44 Special. The bluing on all parts match and no factory marks to indicate a return for work or refinish. I will share the co.ments with him and try to get more info and hopefully narrow down the possibilities. Yes there are some extremely talented people who could build this gun. They are to be envied.
