I’ve been looking for one of these that I could afford, finally found one today and snatched it up. It is a 1978 from the serial number. The Magnas came with it and the targets were thrown in. Very smooth action. Happy, happy, happy!

Looks like a nice one. My first 27-2 was a six incher and I was hooked. Over the years, I have added another 6”, a couple in 5”, two more in 3 1/2”, one in 4” and lastly a 8 3/8". The 6 1/2” eludes me. You’re going to like your 27-2. I do. Enjoy.

My local pawn shop placed at 27-2, absolutely
pristine with 3 Ts at a very reasonable price in
the case last Saturday.

When I visit this Saturday, I expect it'll be gone.
But who knows.

The owner is known for his honesty and has a steady
clientele.

Here's my 1960 6.5" M27. My favorite out my M27s.

I recently let go of my 1955 3.5" & 1957 4" pre-27s, 1961 6" M27 and my 1959 8 3/8" M27.

I did keep my 1968 nickle 6" 27-2 (my only nickel gun) and my 1975 5" 27-2.

Congrats on the acquisition of S&W's finest. One note - the box in your photo is significantly newer than the gun, if it is in fact a 1978 gun. The box would date to 1982 or 1983...

Your Mod. 27 looks to be in excellent condition. You should be able to enjoy it as long as you own it. In my estimation, the S&W Mod. 27, in any of it's many configurations, is the absolute finest revolver ever made. Period.

One needs only to judge the Mod. 27 on the workmanship used to produce it, the artful checkering, types of finish, it's many accessories, Sight combinations, and it's many bbl. lengths, to realise that S&W chose ti to be their premer revolver. What's not to like, about this beautiful firearm?

My favorite bbl. length, for a Mod. 27, is the 3.5".

That Folks, is my 2¢ opinion of the exquisite S&W Mod. 27 revolver.

That is the original box and serial number shows to be 1977-78

You used the wrong code. I followed it back to PB and posted the correct code for you, which is the "IMG" code (last in the list).
RK is correct- that gun is too early for a one piece box. That label was added to that box. It is not a Factory label- it is a repro.
