Hey guys, I found an early Mod 27 serial #S210xxx, 3 1/2", nickel, 4 screw shooter for sale and trying to get a handle on an offer. By the serial number, probably shipped in early 1960's.

My concerns are, it looks like it's been refinished (don't know if it was originally nickel) and the hammer and trigger look plated. Very small corrosion marks on the rear of the trigger guard and a small chip near the top of the grips.

Rubber grips and he doesn't have the originals or box. There is an "N" stamp on the frame beneath the grips, no "N" stamp on the cylinder but no marks that indicate a factory re-nickel job. I've only seen pictures.
He's offered it for $500. Reasonable or too high?

I would think reasonable but dicker a little. You can replace the H & T easy enough and sounds like it could be a candidate for a cool aftermarket finish.

Thanks Ken
I made a firm offer for less than the $500 and he declined. I'm still thinking about it. I do like the 3 1/2" length though. My thinking is that $500 is a little high......but I've been wrong before.

Anyone else; thoughts comments?

This is kind of tough without seeing the gun. $500 seems high for a refinished gun but how many 3&1/2" M27 no dash guns do you see for sale.
I'd check the gun real good and take those rubbers off to see if there's any hidden rust. Then decide if I want to spend $500 on a shooter.
I'd like to have a short barreled M27 and I've spent more on some other shooters.
Like I said, this one's a tough one. Good luck and show it if you get it.

If I had the money at the time I found the gun you describe I'd buy it for that price. Maybe I'm too easy but as as the biker said, how many 3.5", no dash Model 27s do you come across.

Guess I should add...they are all shooters to me. (smile)

If it's in good mechanical condition, and you got the bucks!
