I want an N frame 38/357. I am a fan of stainless but can not live with the lock smith is putting on the new guns. Did they make an 8 shot in stainless with a hammer mounted firing pin in 3 1/2 or 4 inch before the dreaded lock. If not does such an animal exist in a six shot. I like the 3 1/2 barrel. Do I need to just start looking for a 3 1/2 inch blue or nickel 27.

The "bloodwork" guns are 8-shot and have neither the lock nor the integral cylinder stop. I don't know if they have the hammer mounted firing pin or not.

Be prepared to search for a long time and then pay appropriately.

Good luck.

Well look at it this way: you can buy ONE bloodwork gun, or 4 27-2 3.5"ers for about the same money!! Seems a no-brainer to me!

Welcome to the forum!

The bloodwork gun (627-PC 8 Shot) had a frame mounted firing pin.

I don't believe S&W made a gun to your specs, but someone might just post one and prove me wrong again! I suggest you just buy one of these ( but not mine)!

Pretty sure that is incorrect, there was a late version made with the integral cylinder stop/lug and IIRC it had the lock as well......

Ive got a 1954 pre 27 and I love it. Most accurate gun I own. Almost indestructable, giant N frame and cylinder. Its just a cool piece of history and still rivals modern day revolvers for accuracy and reliability IMHO.I cant wait for my sparks IWB vmx2 to get here so I can carry it this fall

You are quite possibly correct. I have never seen one, but you know how that goes....
