Model 27-2, made in the 1970's, recessed and pinned with 6" barrel 95% at least (blue) no box or papers. Any input as to value.

Thanks, Jim

Jim, in February 2010, my wife bought me an M27-2 6" in very good condition, only a faint turn line, no bluing loss, and no scratches anywhere. This came with the Presentation box with all the tools, all of which had been used. Paid $599.00 + 7% sales tax. Cheap, no but well worth it to me YES!

I think that was a cheap price.
I would also think that a decent, cared for 27 without box, extras should be worth a minimum of 500 any day....and perhaps more like 550-600.I'm a fan of 27s.

I bought a mint one with no box, paperwork or goodies for $750 and never looked back. Of course there was a buying binge going on then so I paid what the going rate was at the time. If you like the gun and it's worth it to you go for it.

For me, it would depend on what caused the 5% downgrading. If it was just normal wear/tear (no rust, deep scratches, etc.), it would be no more than a $600 gun to me.

I paid $599 for a 98+% 5 inch barrel last year and was really happy to get it.

I am picking up a 3 1/2" today paid $825.00 plus Transfer and BGC of $45.00 more than I want to pay but it is 99% if there is such a thing and there are plenty of them selling for more.

I recently bought a 27-2 6" Blue with a 1980 serial # with the presentation case, tools, and all paperwork, including the original sales receipt for $650. I would rate it at 95% or better. I was more than happy to pay that price. I sent the inserts of the case to be repaired by jcelect, a member of this forum, who did a wonderful job. If someone would school me on how to post some pics, I would be delighted to do so.

New Jersey Firearms Guild in Rahway NJ, my favorite place to spend money, has a 6" N frame with a serial number of about N 36,000 for sale for $585.

I paid 600 for mine, it is maybe 96-97% Came with original grips and presentation case.
