you might check out the 4064 and 4350 Accurate data.

I can get near factory loads that shoot under 1" with IMR powders and a very accurate 2700fps light load with imr 4831
but do not know how close Accurate is with IMR powders.

For all bullets you might go with the 4350 burn rate if you had just one power to use. 4064 is too fast for the 150 and 4831 is too slow for bullets under 130 in my .270 Winchester bolt action.

Good luck.

Jack O'Connor's original loads for the .270 Winchester involved maximum charges of H4831 and 130 grain bullets. Those were both extremely accurate and powerful. They worked so well in my M70 Super Grade that I skipped further experimentation. If the OP decides to try propellants other than those manufactured by Accurate, he may want to give this or the middle speed IMR powders such as 4350 or 4831 a shot with 4831 being the slowest of the bunch suitable for the .270.

Thanks guys for these ideas. I've used Accurate 3100 ( no longer available) Imr 4895 (also used for 8mm Mauser, 35 Rem., 308 Win. All perform ok. With all powders in short supply, I'm at the "any-port-in-a-storm" situation here in New England.

IMR 4895 is a propellant which delivers excellent accuracy in the .30-06 family of cases and is a favorite of M1 Garand shooters because that rifle's gas system is not compatible with slower powders. However, it also leaves a fair amount of velocity on the table when used in a case of this capacity. To me, the trick when developing hunting ammo is coming up with both maximum velocity and very high degrees of accuracy. Not sacrificing one for the other. Paper punching ammo is a different story. Anyway, powders like IMR 4064, 4350, 4831 and H4831 would be good choices and there are a number of others. The current problems with availability do make securing these components something of a sporting proposition.

I was in Dillon's store a couple weeks back and they had every AA powder on the shelf except 1680 (the one I'm looking for). You could probably order from them but the hazmat might kill it.

hazmat

Trying to get ammo or powder shipped to the People's Republic of Massachusetts is nigh impossible. I need to drive to Maine to have any hope.( Kittery trading Post)
