I've been showing off my newly acquired guns from the 50's, but I had to include this beauty from the late 70's. This is another example of how far off the Blue Book of Gun Values can be. That book says a 100% 3 screw 28 (and I'm not saying this one is 100%) is valued at $495. It is my humble opinion that they are worth more than that. I can't say how much more, but the quality of these guns is amazing, especially when compared to the new crop of S&W's. That's not meant to be a slam on the new guns, but I can see the difference.

Now I just have to decide whether or not to remove the red paint from the front sight.

Nice... and I certainly agree about the Blue book being off... sure wish I could find some for what they have them listed for.. :)

Retired NICE 28!!! Very sharp grips too! Many people like the 4 incher, but the 6" works for me. I have a 95% 28 no dash (6") from 1960. Bought it right, and would not give it up! Enjoy your 28! Bob

That's a very nice 28. I've got my 4" 28-2, but you guys keep showing off the 6" inchers, forcing me to step up the search for one of my own. Congrats! :)

The Model 28-2 with 6 inch barrel is a great range revolver and a great shooter to have in the family.

I`ve got a 6 inch 28 that outshoots my 5 inch 27. Same loads, same grips(targets). Haven`t figured that one out yet.

Very nice 28. I love the 28-2 4" and have two in very nice shape
but I also still love my old 6" that I bought new in 1966. It is the
first S&W revolver I ever owned. Don't see much use for red paint
but I put a little white paint on the front sight of any revolver that
I use for hunting.

That looks close to 100% to me. With the footballs in equally beautiful condition, I think it would be a steal at $500.

I handled a N stamped 28 4" today. They were asking $475.00.

The barrel and just above the grip on the left side of the frame was rust. The blueing was gone. Not holster wear. Very tight action. Bedside revolver?

Your 6" should be closer to $600.00 compared to the one I saw and handled.

Nice 6" all the same. Thanks for sharing. I love my $375.00 28-2. :)

I was just noticing how good the finish on your M28 looks, Retired W4.

It has often been noted on this Forum that these seem to have a "range" of finish qualities, from the advertised brushed blue to a deep blue that rivals the finish on an M27. It looks like you have one of the latter.

Here's a 6" M28-2 with the rather dull brushed blue finish. IIRC, I got it for $250 OTD about six years ago.
