The LGS knows I like S&Ws and have a few they are looking to purchase from and estate and need some info and value to make an offer.

The (2) that belong is this forum are a Model 28-2 6" barrel with smooth target grips and a Model 13-1 4" heavy barrel.

Both are in good used condition and appear original.

Only have (1) picture of each.

What are approximate values?

The (2) others are a 1917 and I frame 22LR in nickel, in appropriate forum.

Just from those pics, I'd say about $700 for the HP and $550-$600 for the M13. They seem to have a fair amount of wear from use, and the stocks on the M28-2, nice as they are, are not the originals. M28-2's came standard with square edged magna stocks. The stocks on the M13 are called PC (for plain clothes) magnas and the rounded bottoms are designed not to print like the standard magnas will. Make sure the mechanicals work well; check for cylinder end shake and hammer push-off. A M13 is a model I'd like to have, along with its stainless cousin the M65.

I assume the guns don't have boxes or accessories and paperwork with them. If they do, you might see the value a bit higher than what I mentioned.

Don’t know about the M28, but an M13-1, a P&R revolver, in that condition would certainly bring more than an unpinned M10 HB in similar condition, and the M10 would bring +/- the $600 around here. (MD, VA, DC area.)

+1 on Hair Trigger's estimate of $700 for the 28-2. The 6" bbl. version is not as popular as the 4", and Model 28s are still trailing way behind Model 27s for collectability and value. However, Model 28s are gaining more popularity and prices are increasing. I've had my minty 6" (N275854, ca. 1974-77) for about 10 years, and paid over $500 back then. I do like the looks of the smooth target stocks! Good hunting!

Yeah, a 6" HP is on my list, but so is a 1917 (see my other thread) and higher on the list than the HP. Going to be a difficult decision because I can't afford both.
