Beautiful 28, KC130
Last week I crossed paths with a beautiful 4” 28-2 which was on consignment at a LGS for $1050. Unfortunately, it had Pachmayrs and the front screw on the rear sight tang was staked at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock. That was a first. I offered $800, but the owner would only come down to $950.

I really like your 4" 28! Something I would still like to own. I have a 6" no dash from 1960. The most important thing is to find stocks that feel right in your hand. Bob

Nice pictures everyone. Question: Are 28 target grips bigger than 19 target grips since it is a bigger frame?

Yes. About 0.1 inch in thickness and width at the grip screw. It makes a significant difference in circumference, about 1/2 inch at the grip screw, where your ring finger rests using a typical grip.

I thought so, my understanding is they are the same target grips as used on the Model 29. I handled one of those at the LGS and they felt way too big, the Model 19 target grips are just right for me. If I ever get a 28 I'll have to go with the Magnas I guess.

Here's another question, are the Magna grips on the 28 bigger than on the 19 or 10 since it is a bigger frame?

I too have a 28-2 with 4" bbl. I have S&W target stocks and a set of Magnas for it along with a pair of faux pearls from Eagle. Hate to say it but when shooting full house loads the most comfortable stocks are the fake pearls so I would shoot yours,(if you are going to shoot it at all), with whatever stocks you are going to get and shoot it with the pearls too before you toss them. I think they look good and may surprise you.
