This is my 28-2 4". Probably my favorite Smith and Wesson revolver. Purchased many years ago at a LGS. It had Pachmayrs on it, I want to say I paid $200? It could have been $250, I don't remember.
My brother gave me the Magnas. I also have a pair of Goncalo Alves Target grips for it. I think that I shoot better with the Targets, but I like the look of the Magnas
Anyway, 30 or 36 ( I should have written it down, this was a few weeks ago) shots, all double action, 25 feet indoors. 158gr RNFP Freedom Munitions remanufactured ammo. No issues whatsoever.

I count 29, possibly 30 holes. At any rate, the target is DEAD, if the bull is his heart, you ripped out one of his lungs, as long as you shot the target upside down like it is in the picture :D

Nice shooting, and great gun to shoot with. I like my M28-2 also, glass-smooth action. I keep telling myself to get to the range and try out my new-to-me M27-2 and see if I can tell a difference.

Nice shooting. I've on had my 6.5" 28-2 at a gun range once and that was back in 2014.

He's one of my daughters squeezing one off with it. It only shoots .357 magnum loads. ;)

My 28-2 came to me with Pachmyar grips on it too.

It now rests on my nightstand wearing a nice set of Target Stocks.

I counted 29 too, but hard to say how many went through the blow out on the left.

i see the ammo was .38 Special. Do you shoot full bore .357s through it? With what result?

The indoor range at the LGS does not allow Magnum loads, And since it's been many years since I shot at a PA Game Commission range with this revolver, I can't rightly tell you.

IIRC it shot well BITD. My late brother was a prolific reloader. I still have a bunch of his. 357 Magnum loads as well as some 38/44 loads he did for his Outdoorsman and Heavy Duty.

One day I'll have to try them in the HP

Just curious. My experience with full throttle .357 Magnums through a 4" barrel is that the blast and flash are borderline unbearable. Even toned down loads are not for the faint of heart.

What's not to like, indeed... I see the discussion on various grips- my 27-2 has combat grips on it and I absolutely love them. It's by far my most accurate revolver...not sure how much of that's the grips and how much is luck!

I suppose it doesn't matter between the K and N frame guns; both my M27-2 and M28-2 are 6" barrels; my M19-3 is a 4" and it does get your attention with full power magnums, but the real light/sound show comes with a 2-1/2 inch barrel like my M66-1. Let loose with it and the reaction from everybody is like this:

My M28-2 came with magnas; they fit my hand nicely, but are a bit inadequate to spread the recoil of full power loads; the targets om my M27 are much nicer for that; I removed the magnas and put a set of Altamont combat stocks on the M28, it's much more fun to shoot now.

My 4” 28-2 is one of my favorites as well, certainly my favorite N-frame. It is pictured with my 6” 28-2 and 6.5” 27-9.
The 4” came with aftermarket Pachmayr’s, my 6” 28-2 came with the factory targets as shown and the 27-9 came with a newer style set of targets that I replaced with an older set.

That's really nice that your kids like to shoot with you. The only one in my family who shoots with me is my brother. He is very fortunate to have found a girlfriend who likes heading out to the range. I'm still looking haha
