I have a model 28-2 6" I was wondering if someone with the book can tell me when it was born? serial # S232219

Most likely 1963.

According to the Standard Catalogue of Smith & Wesson S232000 - 235999 were produced in 1963 - 1964. So that would put yours in early 1963.

Correct. the -2 version went from 1961 until the -3 version of 1982 when the chamber rim counterbore was eliminated.
