Great condition… S prefix with original box.. very nice.

Sounds like a fair deal all the way around.
I bought mine with no box or papers and an ugly Pachmyr rubber grip for $750 several years ago. I would say you did better with original box, papers and S&W target stocks. I cherish the 28-2 and I've tried to find period correct stocks for it, but still searching. The Altamont grips I have on it aren't bad.

A Model 28-2 with factory option target stocks, with box, docs, and VLC paper for $900? Can't really tell from the pics, but has it even been fired after the factory test firing? Even if it has been fired, it looks great and $900 is a great deal for the buyer.
Nitpicking here ( I am not a fan of 6” guns but to each his own) the gun looks great. I suspect the box label might be nonoriginal to the box to force match the box to the gun? I would need a closer look to see if i felt the box was truly original to the gun.

In my world, that's a very reasonable price.
Had I stumbled on to a Mod 28 like that, I would already be enjoying its company!
