Last night at the gun show, I came across a 28 with target hammer and trigger...it had a red ramp front sight...it was a 4 inch N serial...never seen target fixtures on an HP...how normal was this...special order?

My 4" Model 28 HP came with 3Ts- except no RR or WO sights. Someone may have replaced the front ramp. I'm not certain, but I think the HP could be ordered with most of the same options as the Model 27.

I believe you could order a 28 with options, but many shooters swapped out hammers and triggers. They were commonly stocked in retail stores in blister packs. I have a 1954 made 28 with a red ramp front that I have always wondered about.

I've got one with the T's in the original box. The box was marked to reflect the T's.

The box indicates it came from the factory with Target options(just saw the box this morning...he wasn't sure he was going to sell/trade it)...I aquired it with the box this morning in a long winded trade action between 4 people...but I got the 28...and no $$ from me was involved, and I didn't have to sell/trade off any of my S&Ws...life is good...a new gun with no outlaying of $$. The down side is that it had rubber grips...not the origionals...but I have a set of magnas that make the gun look and feel just right and had them with me at the show...so its all good

I bought my 4" 28 back in the 70's. Plain sights/magna grips. It now wears goncalo alves target stocks, target hammer, ranger trigger and RR/WO. I addded these myself over the years to suit my taste.

im more curious how you ended up on the plus side of a 4 way deal with out trading out a gun or $$ ? one of the other traders owe you ?

Didn't say no gun...just not one of my S&Ws...I got rid of a rifle and shotgun...And one of the traders did owe me...so I am into the 28 for under $300...and that $300 has been sitting in my safe unused for y 1/2 years...Its all good the smiths are well worth the loss of 2 I will never use or will ever build value...the 28 will be used and will only increase in valu7e...$$ in the bank so to speak
