I came across I never fired model 29–10 with the gold 50th anniversary engraving on the side complete with the wooden display box. The gun is in pristine condition and the guy wants $1050. I'm not really familiar with this particular gun, does anybody here think that's too much to pay?

I don't. Try searching Gunbroker and Gun Auction for similar sales. The guns aren't rare but are very nice.
