29-2 date and value

Hey folks.
I have a model 29-2 6.5" with display box and papers. The only thing missing is the sight adjustment tool. The gun is in really good shape. There are a few small dings, but not many. I bought it about 20 years ago for about $300. I was wondering what the value may be now. The serial number is N1359xx. I think it was probably made in the mid 70's. I thought you guys may have a better idea as to when it was manufactured.

In the current market, "worth" is a little tough to pin down. It's probably a $900 gun, but I have no doubt someone would pay $1200-1500 on Gunbroker.

Your Model 29-2 was most likely shipped in 1974. I have one close in serial number that was shipped in June of that year.

I agree with MN2944 above regarding the current value. A year or so ago, they were selling for around $1000 in my area but have gone up $200 - $500 since then. Crazy - but considering that in the early 70s Smiths ran neck in neck with Colts price-wise, they have a ways to go to catch up!
