29-2 Nickel

Sorry to be redundant with so many posts about this handgun. I'm thinking about trading it for a N frame user 44 mag 4 inch with cash on top from the buyer. I'm not a collector and the gun is so pretty I don't want to shoot it. The advice I would like, I know it's up to me but could use some good advice should I just keep it and not shoot it or should I get a gun that I will use and shoot and enjoy. TIA

i pass on new in the box unless crazy stupid low price. i shoot mine and l know there are others out who would give the NIB a better home than me. but ultimately it's your decision. definitely not the worst decision to make. kenny :confused::confused:

Yeah I just posted it locally where I live. Does me no good just sitting in the box. I'll see what happens.
 
Never trade or sell, buy, buy, buy. You will regret parting with it.

I traded in a few figuring I could replace them later, I paid dearly to replace a few.
 
I had a 29-2 nickle with 8 inch barrel 44 mag with tools and presentation box. I sold it and now regret that. It was a beautiful revolver and whem I bought it I had no intention of shooting it. So, keep it.
 
I have regretted every gun I ever sold at some point after the sale, so now I am not selling. I am more selective about what I buy, but I have learned my lesson selling. Honestly, I have had some buyers remorse as well, but after a period of time I am always glad I made the purchase. Good luck to you it is a really nice revolver. BTW Nickle and SS guns are easy to clean up after shooting, so running a few down the pipe might not be as consequential as you think.

If it were me, I'd either put it in to hibernation in the back of the safe and let it percolate in price for a few years or.....sell it for as much as you can and go over to the Altamont Website and get one of the engraved S&Ws they are offering.

From another Coastie. Keep it. If you don't want to shoot it buy something you want to shoot. As quoted above, I've had a number of guns over the years and I wish I still had some of them. I can think of only one or two I don't regret getting rid of. But I can think of a half dozen I wish I still had.
 
I agree buy, buy, buy. I parted ways with a 4" 629 and a 6" 629 and bought a 5" 629. Wish I would have kept the other 2 now.
 
It's been shot...right?...So I would go ahead an shoot it. If it was unfired since it left the factory I would keep it that way, it will only go up in value. they don't make um like that anymore. My 4'' nickel 29 is unfired and it's already worth twice what I paid for it, still like new!..................................M*

Yes been shot maybe 12 rounds. Still have the original ammo that was bought with it
 
Why I love this gun so much? I enjoy looking at it and touching it ( WEIRDOS YOU GUY ARE) I like looking at it more than I like looking at my wife, I think I will keep it and get rid of the wife, the gun don't complain, argue , it just sits there quite and looks elegant. I'm not strange at all, actually have a PHD in psychology. Ok maybe I'll resign

I decided I will try and trade it for another 29 or 629 thats a shooter. Needs to go to a better home. Thanks everyone for the input
 
Mine have been in the safe over a decade there safe queens. Time to wipe them down.

Selling?
Never sell, I traded a few to start a business. Figuring they could be replaced down the road, not there discontinued. I replaced three used ones the last one is a blued python, I’ll never spend that much money.

Buying or trading,
Buy the best condition you can afford now, down the road you won’t regret it.

That’s my words of wisdom.

just shoot it I shoot mine all the time.
 
So does this mean your keeping the wife or you getting rid of her too :)......(just kidding)....................................M*
 
You can’t hurt it by shooting, but if that is not your thing move it on to the next guy.

I don’t shoot mine often but it can sit it the safe.....how much can it take up......

This was my 1968 nickel M27-2 after its first cleaning. I wish I would have taken some pictures before I ever cleaned it.

It was one of the most filthy guns I ever acquired. I can't even imagine how many rounds went thru it.





After I got it all cleaned up I took it to the range and put a bunch of 125 gr rounds thru it at 100 ft.




Another disassemble and clean.






If done properly nickel cleans up real nice. Shoot it all you want and take care of it or sell it like you suggested,
buy a shooter and put the left over cash in your pocket or
buy a nice holster, ammo and cleaning supplies and keep your shooter nice.

My feeling about having safe queens changed. Mainly because I'm not a "collector".

I decided that I didn't need guns that I was never going to shoot so I sold them hoping someone who had more
appreciation for them than I did would buy them.

I recently sold this one too.

I'm sure this didn't help. LOL
 
I just need to hear or read how beautiful this 29-2 is. Yeah I have a problem I realize this
 
I have a USFA single action army that I have fired over 1000 rounds through. It still looks very close to new. Own it, shoot it, enjoy it. Good luck finding one that is as pleasing as that one, if you do decide to sell.
 
If it were me and I could afford to do it (that is the key), I would keep the beautiful 29-2, and buy the user gun that you say you would enjoy. Life is too short not to do what you enjoy and makes you happy. The superb 29-2 definitely will only increase in value. If money is a problem, I would sell the looker and buy a shooter, pocketing the extra money.
