Value is probably in the $900-$1000 range; more if you had box/papers. Not sure of the date as I don't have my S&W references with me however I recently sold N404XXX which was a 1977 gun so yours is probably early '70s. I sold mine for $750 as it had a "ding" in the nickel; didn't affect shooting but was always an irritant so when a guy wanted it this year I sold it. Good luck.

Model 29-2

Hi,

You have a nice Model 29 here. I usually sell a number of them throughout the year. All people who buy them are not collectors, and all they want the gun for is to shoot it. This must be understood and appreciated although a lot of collectors will think that this shouldn't be, well, it is.

Collectors might look at this as something to fill a void in their collections until something more complete is located, and then there are those who will be watering at the mouth to get it.

If you put it on an online auction, you will find out which way it will go once the bidding starts. If you have a set price in mind then start the bidding there. If you do not have a price that you are comfortable with then I would suggest that you start at somewhere around $500.00 and see what happens.

Good luck,

Dave

Your 29-2 was most likely shipped in mid-1974. I believe the estimate of value above is about correct.

Polish that baby up lightly. From what I see lately they are at the most with no box, accessories or papers at $1,000 and under. With box, accessories, papers it would be between $1,200 to $1,400.

I agree on the estimate of value, these are not easy to find. Here is mine and have been offered 1200.00 but wont take that,it has the wood box and even the cardboard shipping box.I agree with Dave put it on an auction site and see what it brings,I would start the auction at 695.00 if it were mine.
