29-2 scope mounts

Do they make or are they available ,scope mounts that fit into the area where the rear site is located. I just got a 29-2 with a 10 5/8" barrel and I would love to be able to put a scope on it. Thank you in advance for your help.

Yes. Leupold makes a base specifically for the pre-drilled & tapped Smiths. It's the one you want because the shape of the top strap is a little different than the top strap of the newer D&T Smiths. However, it does require you drill & tap three holes. The one existing hole, for the rear sight tang, it's just to tiny to serve as a sight base hole -- especially for .44 magnum level recoil.
