29-2 with dull looking barrel-need advice

Am I misunderstanding....are the recommendations in this thread to use Flitz on blued guns? I always thought Flitz was safe to use (in moderation) on stainless and nickel, but was damaging on blue.

I would appreciate any additional input on Flitz and blued guns. Thanks.
