It is blued with 3T's 6" barrel but it has ridden a lot of miles in a holster with significant bluing loss. But, 3T's and mechanically it seems just fine. No cylinder wobble and it locks up tight. I am not however a huge 44 Mag fan, although for $800, I am interested. I would shoot mostly 44 specials but this would provide me with another dual cartridge revolver which I like.

I didn't take any pictures, but the bluing loss on the cylinder and barrel is down to bare metal in places. It has seen heavy carry use but I don't know how much it was shot.

3T's!? Makes me want to go get it.

Don't get too excited about the 3T's because they all came that way… bluing loss to the metal is a big deal and I would think value is about half of asking price. You can do better with $800 bucks to spend.

Yeah when he accepted an offer for $700, I figured I might pass. Loss of bluing in places isn't bad but this had a lot of bluing loss. And I think I'll keep looking

I picked up my one and only model 29 - a model 29-3 last year for $850 OTD. It is magnaported and Metalife hard chromed. For me that's perfect. I like working guns. I put a new set of Pachmyers on it. It shoots great.

Its a working gun. But was the previous owner a reloader? Lots of people quote Elmer as a way to rationalize extremely hot reloads.

With that much bluing loss, I'd pass at $800. I'd consider it at $800 minus the cost of a good reblue, so I'm thinking it is no more than a $600 revolver.

I let that one pass. I'm looking at a very nice 29-3 with the box. I don't know if it has the cleaning tools in the box. I have questioned the seller and am awaiting an answer. It's $1,100 but in much better shape with very little wear on it.

Here is mine. 29-3, bought it in 2008 because it was shiny and I wasn't astute enough to know about the whole "pinned and recessed" business. It shoots fine. I like it. Every once in a while I think of upgrading to a 29-2, but I always decide not to. I only shoot magnum loads in it, but nothing heavy. I see no reason to hot rod loads when I am mostly shooting paper or cans. If I want to shoot 44 specials, I have several of those I can use.

too much $ for bad finish and a 29-3 period! ...the 80's, early 90's ones were poor quality... look for 29-2 or a 29-10...the years between, bluing went way dowhhill and stock fitment poor. the 29-2 from 77-78 and earlier had the perfect bluing.. they did a near perfect job on the 10's, stronger but modern. You can tack drive all day with it dead groups for 1000 and 1000's of mag loads never hurting it. I have a 74 29-2, original Dirty Harry that I just keep as a safe Queen to look at and shoot once in a while and then a 29-10 that I constantly use feed anything through it, never misses a beat. I put a full trigger and spring kit in it so it's even hotter.
