I have to decide on which of these 2 to choose. Both look like new like new condition . The 29-3 has a 6" and the 29-5 has the 5".
I will be shooting with friends that like to shoot at clay targets on the bank at 100 yds.
I really prefer the more classic looking 28-3, but have heard the 29-5 Classic is a great gun.
All things equal, which would you have and why. I just can't decide, and no, I can't have both.

The -5 should be a more accurate gun do to tighter tollerences. The classic has the full bull barrel I believe, so it will be more nose heavy to hold the recoil down better also.
A handgun is close range so all advantages I mentioned are mute any way.
Which do you like better? Buy both....

I'd go 29-5, it post E pkg so you can shoot it alot more with real mag loads, it's also a little better balanced in my hand than a 6". Plus you don't see them everyday, grab the 29-5!

I'd also buy the 29-5 because it has all the performance mods and is a stronger revolver

29-5 . . . the best Model 29 they ever built for shooting . . . and the 5" barrels are sooo desired . . . about as good for accuracy as the 6" and about as good for carry as the 4."

Mines a 6" version and I love it for deer hunting. Extremely accurate too . . . plus all the benefits of the endurance package that was lacking on the early revolver.

Ok, you have sold me. Gun 4 Fun and the rest, thanks.
My indecision was because I don't care for full lug and not sure of round butt on a big gun. I guess I'm old fashion and was moved my the more tradional look, but the performance was more desirable. And here is something that will kill you.....my best friend is selling it for what he bought it for when it was new.....$485.00.
Can anyone reccomend a S&W set of good looking wood grips.
Thanks,
Marsh
