29-4 Question

I stopped by a local consignment shop today and saw what's tagged as a 29-4 in blue.
I thought 8 inch but it might be a 8 3/8 I just saw information online about. Nice factory wood grips and a unfluted smooth cylinder.
This gun is prestine except for a faint cylinder drag line is the only thing I saw. So beautiful and shiny like new in box condition. Consignment store owner commented that it probably has one trip to the range on it.
Price is 1895 seems high. Unfluted cylinder model special in some way.
What do y'all think?

Price IS high...

I believe the price is HIGH...the only 29-4 I am familiar with that has the unfluted cylinder is the 3"...LNIB these are at around $1500

I believe he may have seen one that would have been shipped in 1989.

Would have shipped with rubber grips.

I don't have the product code but believe only 2500 produced.

Price does seem high but he is in California.

$1895 seems a little high. Original box and papers included? If not, I'd say there should be some room to negotiate down.

I have a 29-4 classic hunter 8 3/8s that came with a gloss leupold M8 eer scope mounted on it. Paid $800 figuring the scope alone was worth $150-200.

with NICS and tax the price seems double than normal on the pest coast. Unfluted is not more desirable to me. Even heavier cylinder for the hand to turn.

Just came back from Costco, fights, police trying to keep the peace and Costco closed for being overrun....I rather tell the wife: I am off to the 'consignment' store.

That price is way too high. You can get a classic with 6.5" barrel for less than $1000.

Also I forgot to mention that my 29-4 has noticeably larger throats than any of my 29-6s. They are .431” which may cause some issues shooting normal diameter cast bullets

FWIW, I just picked up this 8 3-8” 29-5 with Leupold scope, S&W base/rings, Ed Brown cylinder release and factory Hogues for $825. Other than the turn line, it’s unremarkable.

I think this IS remarkable. Sell the scope w these cool rings alone and you got a $595 29-5. Love it!
