I just picked this one up. I had to order a replacement extractor cam (it was missing the part that fits over the spring), and these grips don't fit it right, so i ordered some hard rubber grips. I believe once these parts are installed, i will be able to shoot it.

Those grips were a very popular and attractive after market style in the 1920s - 1950s era and were made for almost all handguns styles of pistols, revolvers and autos. They are a hard plastic ( Bakelite ?) material. Your gun won't shoot any better with hard rubber repo. S&W grips than with those grips! Be sure to shoot the gun with low pressure ammo., as the gun is a black powder gun. Good Luck, Ed.

Thanks! I just hope i can get her back in order. I reload bp cartridges already for my new departure, so this will be my 2nd gun in .38 S & W. I have a H & A .32 "Smith style clone", but am backordered on .32 S & W brass, so it might be awhile before i can shoot that one.

I really like those little Smith SA's. and a lot of other people did in their day, too. They were very widely used for decades after they became "obsolete" because they are very reliable and they still are. It's a tribute to S&W that so many of these are still around and still working, and I'd keep those grips, too... Where did you get parts?

Here's my two First Model .38 SA's

Enjoy it!
