Back to the range today.... this gun is a "hoot"!! Just 45 rounds today; 20 Fed balk at 50 yrds.; then 25 CCI Stingers at 50 and 100 yrds. No issues.
First the Bushnell ACOG T-dot (see first range report thread) is good as a red dot but limits precission as the "dot" covers about 3" at 50 and 6" at 100yds. So its kind of like shooting "in the dot".
Federal balk was about 1" high at 50yds with a little stringing left to right. My inablility to find a consistant hold.
CCI Stinger was also about 1 inch high at 50yds shooting; with PO-Impact sitting at the top of the dot.
Moved to shooting at a B-27 target at 100 yards still with CCI Stingers....3" orange dot on the X ring wasn't very precise, as the scope's dot covered the whole 3" dot ( the red T-dot on the orange target dot was not a good contrast and the sight's green T-dot was too washed out at mid-day to use). So,six shots in the 10-9 rings at about 11 o'clock. Bottom line,finding a good consistant hold was an issue
Shifted to head shots on the B-27 target, at 100 yds..... about 6" wide by 7" high. I held so that the dot covered most of the head with a "horse shoe" of head showing at the sides and top. Nine shots (3,3,3) with one called flyer (scope tilted, a hit to the right ear) gave a 8 shot group at 2 3/4"..... pretty well centered from the eyebrows to the bottom of the nose.
As I said before the Bushnell " T-dot" sight has its limits (so do I) based on dot size and the ability to repeat a consistant hold shot to shot ( my 57 year old eyes). I'm tempted to put a scope on it ..... just to see what it/I can do.
I shot on High School and College rifle teams and a 50 ft used to be able to hit the 10-X which was .... this size....".". But that's not why I got this rifle..... so I think I'll play with the red dot for awhile.
