New to S&W Forum and first post.
I recently bought a CA compliate 15-22 Performance Center model. The first outing was fantastic. 200+ rounds or so with maybe a 1 or FTL and no FTF. I only use CCI Mini Mag High Velocity

This weekend I took my son to the range and had every other shot jam in the chamber. Literally you would shoot 1 then the next round would jam and be facing straight up in the chamber. Clear the jam and the next one would fire but round after that would jam the same way. Either standing straight up or bent in half. Very strange

Mags loaded the same way I did on the first outing so not sure it was mag releated. I load one round at a time. Use the mag release just enough to get the next round in.

Took the gun home and cleaned and lubed it. There was quite a bit of black buildup on the front of the extractor. Hope that will fix the issues as I did not have time to head back after cleaning. Does everyone clean after 200 rounds??

This is a new gun with Serial DVU#### and it has the "blue" spring.

Thinking it might be ammo I found great reviews on these so I order 1500 rounds from Midway yesterday. They say specifically designed for 15-22 so we'll have to see.

I think 15-22 magazines are very sensitive about how you load them up. I've noticed if I take my time and carefully load it I can dump whole mag w/o any issues. The only issues I've had were FTFs when round wasn't even properly stripped from mag. I was shooting bulk Winchester ammo (the bullets were really wobbly in casing).

I believe it was the way you loaded the mag as CCI MiniMag has been very reliable for the majority of users here on the forum. Also are you sure you didn't bend the extractor when you cleaned the gun as they are pretty easy to bend if not careful.

I am inclined to agree you have a magazine loading problem or a bent extractor, rather than a dirty action. I can't imagine any gun getting so dirty after 200 rounds as to cause major malfunctions.

Every 1,000 rounds I run a BoreSnake through the bore and chamber, clean the bolt face, and blow out the FCG area with compressed air and put a single drop of RemOil on the junction of the hammer and trigger and their respective pins.

I use the same cleaning regimen on all my firearms.

Pretend there is no magazine loading assist buttons, and just push the rounds in. See if that doesn't clear things up.

I'll try that next time. I don't think i bent anything cleaning as i cleaned it after we left the range. The strange thing is the first outing was near perfect with only 1 in 200 rounds that ftl. I'm going out again this weekend and i'll try to load without the load assist to see if that helps

Thanks guys

Load your mag like you always have and look at it. If every other one isn't going in a different direction, one looking left then right and so on I bet you will have your ftf and such. I load it up pull the load assist a bit give it a shake and let it pop back up seems to line them up proper. I also have noticed that the mag that came with the gun is the one that gives me what few FTF that I have had the three I bought after the gun purchase seem to have a different sping, not sure on this but I know which one it is as I havn't gotten all the glue from the upc barcode off the other ones yet.

I clean mine after every use. 250 round minimum. Most of the time I shoot 3-600 at the range. Also clean my mags and swab the inside with a light light coating of rem oil. 1300 rounds so far. NO MALFUNCTIONS. EVER.

It goes bang every time. I can dump a whole 25 drop the mag, slam another one in and dump 25 more as quickly as the trigger can be pulled and it's never had a problem.

I'd bet the nose of the bullet is hanging up on the inside front of the mag. CCI mini mags are beefy. The CCI AR Tactical has wax/lube stuff on the tip so they feed easier. They are my fave.

A wet lube inside any magazine is asking for trouble, as the oil will collect dust, unfired powder and other debris. There is no reason whatsoever for lube the inside of magazines, ESPECIALLY polymer/plastic ones.

You have simply been lucky, my friend.

Interesting as the first outing was with the stock mag and the second outing I had used 7 new mags I bought from Midway. They look identical and I'm not sure I could tell the difference now that they are all mixed together. I'll check when I get home to see if there are any differences.

When I load I do check the every other one offset left and right. Always looks right in the mag. Taking the gun out again on Sat with the new CCI AR Tactical rounds I got from Midway. We'll see if there is any difference.

Thanks for all the input guys . . .

They are identical, no matter who you buy them from. There is only ONE manufacturer of 15-22 magazines at this time - whoever makes them for S&W.

Be carefull when cleaning your 15-22 the Ejector can be bent fairly easily with a cleaning rod & issues with reliability will follow,I had this problem & straightened the ejector per the You Tube Video & have had zero issues since + I only clean with a Patch Worm to eliminnate cleaning rod issues.

Update on 15-22 Performance Center

Well took the gun out again today and it ran flawlessly. The only difference is I ran and entire box of 375 rounds of CCI AR Tactical .22lr 40 grain. This stuff is amazing. Zero FTL, 0 FTF and 0 FTE. Could not be happier. I bought 5 more boxes at Midway and will try to unload my Mini Mags.

Thanks to all for the input.
