Very Nice, All. I hope to own some Spegel's one day. I have been on his list for quite a while......so maybe sometime.

Hang in there, it's worth the wait. Most of mine were purchased years back when his wait times were quite a bit less than currently.

His backlog grew when he relocated from Oregon to Idaho (good for him) and he's been "making sawdust" as he likes to say since early this year.

I have several grips made by Craig - one of which is made of Curly Koa Wood and has never been mounted on a pistol. Here's a poor photo of same.

When my time comes, as an expert on Spegel knives, in your opinion, which ones should I definitely get? I will pick some favorite wood types. Thanks for any advice.

Larry,
We all have different tastes, but regardless of what type of wood he uses they all come out pretty darn nice.
Depending on finish (blue, nickel or stainless), I order what looks (to me) on a given gun. I've gone to Macasser Ebony for stainless guns, it's a nice contrast. For blue I've been using Bolivian Rosewood, again, a nice contrast to the guns finish.
Used to be nothing but Cocobolo, but that's very limited these days due to import restrictions.
Another fav for blue guns is the Birdseye Maple, allllll choices, choices.. :)
