I'm going the other way here. On a .44 Magnum I prefer the Ported Slab Barrel, BUT on everything else .44 Special, .45 Colt, .41 Magnum - Id like them to have 3 1/2" Barrels! It is only my opinion but the Model 27 in 3 1/2" barrel is about THE most beautiful gun Ive ever seen bar none! It has a distinct and fantastic profile! Now S&W is making guns with 3" barrels (and they are already making Mountain Guns with the 4" tapered barrels). I think they would do much better to make them like the 3 1/2" M27 instead! Think about it Model 24, Model 25, Model 57 all in 3 1/2" barrel like the M27! All with the Gleaming S&W Blue! Now those would be a sight to see and a gun to have! ALL of them!

I have read posts of people who like the 3" barrel Model 29/629. Perhaps they would like the Model 29 in 3 1/2" barrel as well.

I agree with this, I carried a Model 27, 3.5 for a long time and it is missed now.

Mmmm, I could overlook the IL (probably remove it and put a plug there) for a model 25 in blue. Any barrel 4" or under would hook me... 3 and a half does sound purrrrfect. That 45 LC cartridge is a temptress.

3 1/2" N frames are the peaches...

Wow, Dave! Incredibly sharp set there!

Long ago, before S&W started putting underlugs on, well, everything(!), I came to the conclusion that the best-looking and best-handling barrel lengths on Smiths came out like this:

N-frame: 5"
L-frame: 3-1/2" (ejector rod shroud with no underlug)
J-frame: 3"

If you really want one you must be resourceful. I bought a 5" Model 27 in nickel, found a 3.5" barrel to match, sent it to S&W to be plated and installed. Happiness is a warm gun.

I feel the same way: A mod 27 with the 3.5 " tube is probably the most elegant revolver. Ever.
Would be a great idea to make them again.

3 to 4 inch barrel, blued, 45 long colt...............I'd buy one.:D

Sir, I believe Mr Lew Horton is selling your Dream gun, well semi dream gun - Model 27 3 1/2" barrel 8Rounds! But its got the IL.

Performance Center revolvers, and Horton was selling them for a good discount. They may have sold all of them. A gold bead front sight would be nice. We have pics of the classic 6 shooters, here is one of these blued 8 shooters, a comforting piece:

Model 627 Pro-Series

S&W is now offering the Model 27 "Classic" but no 3.5"!

One I saw recently the Model 627 Pro-Series 8rds. This gun would be perfect if it was offered in 3.5" Barrel!:D

BRING BACK THE 3.5" PC 27-8 GUNS...BUT IN STAINLESS 8 SHOOTERS !!!!!!!! A 678-8, 8 SHOT, HALF LUG PROFILE WITH PENCIL BARREL. OHHHHH. LAAAAAAAA. LAAAAAAA. I'D BUY TWO !!!!!!!

Yes, I'm shouting it. :)
