3" 586-4 has arrived...

I love the snubbies and have located a 3" 586-4 in the box that appears to be in excellent condition. It has a light turn line so it has been fired or at least handled some. It isn't local so I have to evaluate from pics the best I can. It is listed in the SCSW as a special run in 1996 product code 103495 although the serial # puts it in the 1994 range...I know these things don't always match up.

I have never seen one anywhere for sale or otherwise and would appreciate input on what the value might be on this seemingly rare gun.

The only 3" 586's I've seen are the L-comps. Three inch PC guns, they are rare and run $1000-$1250 on the open market. There is one on GB right now for $900, it's the cheapest one I've seen.

I have a 2 1/2" Model 586-4 but have never seen a 3".

I think someone on the Forum posted a picture of a 3" on here in the past.

Thanks for the replies. I love the PC 586's and the 66 K-comps and Super K's...would love to get one of those. I have a 66-3 3" but not a Super K or PC 586. This gun, however, I have never seen before. It is the real deal with it's box confirming configuration and originality as well as the reference to it in the SCSW. I think I will close the deal and role the dice!

I will post when I receive it and see how the story develops.

As we discussed whenever a seller has a revolver with rubber grips on it
you want to get a photo of the grip frame with the grips removed.
A little moisture trapped under the rubber and you may get rust.

Get good photos before closing the deal and assurances there is no rust on the gun.
Or ,, no deal. Especially over the $1000. mark/.

It is the traditional blue 586. I will definitely post when I receive it.

Short ejector rod like a 2.5 inch not a long ejector rod like a 3 inch. The gun in the picture is a 2.5 inch.

As stated...2 1/2"...gorgeous 586! Those don't come up often and I would be all over it if possible!

Not sure. It's my Dad's gun and he lives in a different state. I haven't seen the gun in hand yet. He was pretty excited about finding it.

The 3" 586-4 is a beautiful looking gun.I love the balance it has.Mine did not come with the box or paperwork,but I picked it up local here in CA for a good price.I now need to find a 2.5" 586.Here is mine with factory rubber grips and then another picture with something a little nicer.

About the only info I came up with was that there were only about 250 of these made in 1994 or 1996.I have not found a lot of info on these guns.You should pick it up if you can.

And I have been pining after a 6" 586 for some time...short list for sure! Too many guns...for every one I mark off the list I find two more to replace it!

I promised to post pics of the 3" 586 when I could...picked it up today so here it is. It came with it's original Houge grips which are very comfortable but I switched them out for some wood...pair of Spegels from my 686...looks like Craig is about to get some more business! I don't know much about this gun so may have to pony up and have it lettered.

I have it pictured with a 3" 66 and a 2 1/2" 19 just for fun as these are now my 3 favorite revolvers...now where is that 3" 19??

It tends to even out on buying these guns.Sometimes I find a good deal and other times I just have to have it and pay a little to much.
It sure is nice to see another 586-4 with 3" barrel.They are some sweet looking guns.

The product code on the box indicates that it was a special run for RSR in 1996. I had one of these in the late 90's and foolishly sold it. It was a fine piece. I had in mind to send it to Hamilton Bowen to be made into a 41 Special, but sold it instead. I still have a 3" M686. Bob!
