Been looking for these 3 Grail Guns for awhile.

Smith and Wesson made 3-3" Comp guns. The 686-3 Mag Comp and 2 686-4 Carry Comps. The fluted Carry Comp is 1 of 310 and the unfluted is 1 of 56. Both of these guns and my Mag Comp are lettered. The 686-3 Mag Comp is 1 of 326.

The 686-3 is a 6 shot and the 2 686-4 are 7 shots

What's cool on the 686-4 guns is they shipped with factory night sights installed. Pretty neat little pieces here I added the Combats These shipped with Uncle Mikes.

Hope you enjoy the pics.

Jimbo,

I hit the 'like' button about twenty times but it will only show once. Do I spy the woodworking skills of John Culina on at least one of those beauties?

Haha. Thanks Bill!!

These are all 3 factory original combats. One is the satin finish they made for a few years I think from about 87-90. IIRC

I do have a few sets of Johns Combats and they are equally amazing!!

STUNNING JAMES....just stunning!

For the record I'm shooting all 3 of those suckers next time I see you....no questions!!

You definitely find the rarest of the rare. Glad I've been able to share "the ride" with you. It's been a blast. Here is to 30 more years of this disease [emoji482]

Beautiful rare stainless guns

Jim,
When you changed your focus from 27's,pre 27s to stainless K,L, and N's , I never thought they would fulfill you. I was wrong! You are amassing such a neat collection of high conditioned revolvers and the unusual variants you find are so cool!
Keep in the hunt and continue to share.

Beautiful guns.

I was wondering, from a manufacturing perspective, what is the business case for stopping a production run at 56 guns?

Besides, of course, making us green with envy at jjbrewst1.

I like the unfluted one best...although both are very nice.

The grips on the unfluted one are sweet.

1 of 56? Very cool. A good find, indeed. :)

Very very nice Jim, I'm glad it worked out for you.

Mag Comp is a 686-3 and a 6 shot.

Carry Comp is a 686-4 and a 7 shot with Night sights

So Night Sights and 7 shot Versus 6 Shot

But the actual "compensator" device (the port and expansion chamber at the end of the barrel) are all the same, right? I can see the guns themselves are different.
