I've recently acquired a Taurus Judge with the 3-inch barrel. I intend to mostly shoot it with mid-load (500 ft-lb) 45 Colt ammo. I've been wondering if the very long cylinder may result in me getting the performance level expected of a 4-inch barrel. I'm hoping someone on the forum might have some experience or knowledge that would enable them to give me an informed opinion.

I have been reloading for 40 yrs (still have all my fingers) considering the cylinder gap is with in specs your accuracy should be good. The one inch of barrel length between a 3"and 4" due to sight radius would by most accounts be the difference in any accuracy....ie shooter error.

Thanks. I guess my OP wasn't clear enough. I was wondering about the velocity difference. I was hoping the long cylinder might act like an additional length of barrel to increase the velocity one would expect from a 3-inch barrel with a normal length cylinder.
