thanks for the replies! that is the price range i was thinking.

I paid $640 + s/t for a 3" 60-16 from a local store in January. As it was new, I had to pay for - and shoot - those first 250 rounds, too! It was their top-of-the heap 60 Pro - a definite keeper.

A standard 3" 60, SKU #162420, has an MSRP of $729, while the 3" 60 Pro, SKU #178013, is MSRP $779, with the grips alone worth the difference, not to mention the tritium Night Sight. Still, I'd expect a good shop to sell a new 3" 60 in the $600 range. While 250 rounds can be a lifetime in some make revolvers, it isn't much to a S&W. It does certainly make it used. I'd have to be helping a friend's widow out to give over $500 for a used one.
