3" model 60

When I first looked at the 60-4, I was a bit disappointed that it didn't have a 4" barrel. However, I "sucked it up" and bought it anyway. I discovered that the double underlugged barrel puts the weight a bit "out front" and makes for steadier holding than my Model 631 4" (.32 H&R Magnum with 4" skinny barrel and target sights). Due to the holding qualities, I can actually shoot the 60-4 better than my 631.

Understand, the scores I shoot with it on NRA Bullseye targets are not as good as my full size Model 14 (with Bomar Rib) but I have shot many scores above 95 on the 25 yard Timed Fire Target. For a fat, blind, old man, that is pretty good shooting for a "belly gun"...

"Who wudda thunk it?"(:>)).

I just got one, a 60-4 in Stainless steel. It looks exactly like the picture Dale53 posted. The serial (BFVxxxx) says it was made in 1991.
I shot it for the first time today and I'm in love.

Hey LC'92
Is the barrel on your gun a heavy barrel?
60-1A.jpg

Your gun could be one of these which were made in 1972. There were 171 guns made in the serial number range R56962-R57239. These guns were 60-1 guns.

My pistol that I just bought and put in the 10 day wait fits in this serial # range 571xx , what does this mean ? is it 1972 mfg. ? And does this do anything to value ect. As it is unfired with the orig. box, papers, tools ect. ever at all from the original owner to me.

S&W Model 60

Mine is a 60-4 with target hammer and trigger. Adjustable rear sight.
It is a round butt frame but I put a square butt grips on it instead of the rubber one that came on the little revolver.
