Really hoping someone can shed some light on this.

I am referring to the 627-3 and 629-5 RSR Limited Edition revolvers. Both are 3" with two different end caps, a comp'd version and a flush mount version.

Has anyone lettered either of these, or obtained the production numbers from RSR? Looking for positive, concrete data on production numbers and S/N prefixes.

A very reliable source told me 203 or 208 units of the 627-3 and even less for the 629-5. I have 627-3 S/N JMA009x and 629-5 S/N LNF009x.

Feel free to PM me if you wish to remain anonymous. Thanks for any and all replies.

Best regards, Bob

I don't know the answer to your question, but both of those guns are grail guns for me, if I'm ever fortunate to come across either one for sale. I'm not holding my breath.

My PC 627 V-COMP 3", product code 170182, has a s/n JMA0XXX. Bought it new 9/2002. Has the removable compensator and the end cap. Came in the PC aluminum case. Didn't make many of them.

Bob, I "lettered" one of the two 627-3, 3 inch RSR guns I have. Roy says "This special run was for 208 units with the serial numbers of JMA0001-JMA0208 made for the RSR Wholesale Group."

Hope that helps. See you in Charlotte NC in a couple of weeks.

Kurt

Can anyone tell me what the 627 V-COMP 3" in excellent unfired condition is worth?

Hey Kurt, thanks for the reply and confirmation on the 627-3, I appreciate it. One of the two you have.... have you bought a lottery ticket lately?:D

One down, one to go. Hopefully another member has the info on the 629-5 V Comp.

Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise I will see you again in Charlotte. Really looking forward to this one, my first chance to display. I do believe it is my turn to pay for dinner, that means the rest of the "bunch" pay for drinks!! If we have the usual crowd, looks like I get off easy!!

See you soon my friend, Bob

Re: Updated information

I realize this is an old thread, but stumbled across some new information.

Fellow member "florange" has graciously shared the production numbers of his 627-3 V-Comp. One of 208 per his factory letter from Mr. Jinks.

There is a 629-5 V-Comp currently for sale on one of the big auction sites. The included factory letter states that it is one of 206 for RSR.

My original source was correct, less 629-5's than 627-3's, but not by much, 208 vs. 206.

Just wanted to pass the numbers along to my fellow 3" fanatics.

Best regards, Bob.

Thank You for the information. I have one of the 627 3" V-comp and wondered how many were made. One for sale now on Gunbroker.com for over $4,000.00.

The cardboard shipping box that the aluminum PC case and gun came in has number 041 on the label. This one probably #41 ?

Production number of the series would be listed under serial number. If number 41 it would be listed as JMA0041. Considering the relatively low number produced, I don't think the S/N would really affect value.

Best regards, Bob.
