I have a 627-3, 5" v-comp with Prefix of JCM on serial number. It's in an aluminum case with all original paperwork. My question is would this make it one of the the Jerry Miculek v-comps. And how many were produced. I read in another thread there were only 208 3" made. I have owned and shot it for years and never thought about its rarity or lack thereoff. It had been owned buy two prior friends one who has passed and the other couldn't recall. I would appreciate any help in determining just what i have. Sorry no pics it and I are not in same location at this time

I can't claim to be an expert, but according to the SCSW 5th Ed. it sounds like you do indeed have a Performance Center Model 627-3 "V-Comp Jerry Miculek Special" (Product Code 170142). It was released by RSR Dist. in 1999/2000 to celebrate Jerry's 1999 World Record for fastest shooting a S&W 8-shot revolver. Your revolver should be marked ".357 MAG V8" on the 5" barrel, and be wearing Jerry Miculek wood stocks from Hogue. The "JCM" prefix s/n isn't mentioned in the SCSW, but it certainly makes sense as an appropriate s/n for this limited production run. I have no idea how many of these revolvers were produced, but perhaps 500 or less. Hopefully some Forum members with more info will be along shortly. Congratulations on owning a fine revolver.
